Palmer College of Chiropractic to Phase Out California Campus

The Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to phase out the college’s West campus located in San Jose, California, citing increased costs in the bay area. The campus will remain open through their current lease in 2025, and students will be provided the option to transfer to the Iowa or Florida campuses.

Immediate Action is Required on a Senate Medicare Bill

Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota are about to introduce a companion bill to H.R. 2654, the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act. A Senate companion, identical to the House version, is a vital step in passing this legislation and creating better access to Medicare-covered services allowed under a chiropractor’s state licensure. Chiropractors are urged to contact their senator to encourage adoption of this bill.

The Joint Chiropractic opens U.S. Air Force base location

As part of its agreement with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service to provide on-site chiropractic care to members of the military and their families, The Joint Chiropractic announced the opening of The Joint Chiropractic – Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Ariz.

New military patients receive their initial visit for $19.00, which includes the consultation, exam, and adjustment.

The ACA Council on Nutrition Symposium is scheduled for the end of the month

The annual chiropractic symposium, this year titled Functional Nutritional Strategies for Autoimmunity, provides access to accredited continuing education and research in an interactive environment. Registration is open at councilonnutrition.com

The ACA Sports Council has opened registration for their annual symposium.

The 2-day event, which has been virtual for the past couple of years, will once again be held in Denver, CO, October 14-15th. Registration is open at acasc.org

In Research

A new meta-analysis reaffirmed the preference for non-pharmacological treatment for low back pain.

The study, which compared Effectiveness of treatments for acute and subacute mechanical non-specific low back pain in 46 randomized-controlled trials, concluded that NS-LBP should be managed with non-pharmacological treatments. Though evidence was uncertain, the trials seem to favor exercise, heat wraps, and manual therapies to mitigate pain and disability at immediate term.

A new exploratory study evaluated the accuracy of low back pain advice on TikTok.

The authors viewed the most viewed videos tagged with #backpain and noted the professional credentials of the creator as well as consistency with current guidelines for non-specific low back pain. Chiropractors the the most popular content creators for the hashtag on TikTok… but also the least evidence based.
